I am definitely a country girl that loves to garden, quilt, preserve, hunt, and read. I love my family more than anything in the world. I live with my husband of fifty years. We have a son, daughter, granddaughter and grandson. We live on a 500+ acre farm in Virginia with about 75 cows & bulls, thirty chickens, and three dogs.
House Spring Cleaning Has Begun
I worked from 9:30 to 4:30 spring cleaning our bedroom. The curtains came down, all bed linens on bed laundered, area rug out on the porch waiting on the pressure washer and went to work on the walls and light fixtures. I figured by that night I wouldn’t be able to move but it went well, and I survived. The results:
Clean walls
Scrubbed floors! Furniture was moved from one side of room to the other to mop and wax with time delay for drying to move from one side to the other.Mattress vacuumed before the floors!
Amongst the turmoil the light fixture was cleaned, and the windows washed.Pictures and decor taken down and cleaned.
The end results. . . .
. . . I can stand it now!!!The curtains are ironed and back on the window and the bed had fresh linens from mattress to bedspread, the pillows were even run through the dryer to air and fluff!!!
I’m waiting on the end of the wood heating season to go any further in the house, but it will be done!
I'm just a country girl living life my way on a farm with my husband and our critters. We've been married fifty years and been farming all of that time. We've moved from one family farm to one of our own and then to another family farm that has been in the family through at least six generations. In this day and age we could not have picked a better life!

Wow!!!! Take a bow. I don’t have the energy for that level of cleaning anymore. Fortunately, the snow is still on the ground here so I don’t need to feel that I’m neglecting proper spring cleaning yet! 😏
I didn’t do any spring-cleaning last year so it was needed. It sure does smell clean and I can live with that. I can feel my energy diminishing every year and trying to stay ahead of things I normally do. I was also feeling cooped up and hate just sitting around so I make myself find a big project when the body feels like it. My knees and hands are starting to feel the oncoming of arthritis. Hoping staying busy will keep it at bay for a couple more years.
Good girl. That’s what they say: keep moving. That’s what I’m (sort of) trying to do as my husband and I both wait for our hip replacement surgeries. But spring cleaning is not high up in my “keep moving” list, although regular light cleaning is.
